Diethanolamine (DEA) is a multi-purpose intermediate chemical that plays a critical role in making functional chemistry. Fundamentally, It is most commonly used in 3 ways; it is used in oil and natural gas refining to separate hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide, it is used for the preparation of diethanolamides, diethanolamine salts, and diethanolamine salt based fatty acids a which eventually get put into soaps and surfactants used in liquid laundry and dishwashing detergents, cosmetics, shampoos and hair conditioners, DEA is also used as a support ingredient that can help blend oil and water especially in agriculture, adjust pH, and improve texture, consistency, and overall formulation performance.
